Marion Freedom Day 2021

We are helping our fire department to host Marion Freedom Day on Saturday, July 3rd. The event kicks off at 11 AM with a parade. After the parade we will have our traditional, old-fashioned, family-friendly games, such as a watermelon eating contest, dunk tank, rubber duck races, kids’ firefighting obstacle course, and tug-of-war. The Hilltop Hitching Post will be selling hamburgers and hotdogs. Marion Fire will be selling cotton candy and snow cones. A vendor will provide kettle corn.

Be in the Parade!

Please, consider participating in the parade! We welcome horse riders, bicyclists in patriotic clothing, decorated floats and pickup truck beds, baton twirlers, classic cars, and more. There’s no charge to be in our parade. The parade route is on Gopher Lane (starts near Homesteaders Way & ends at Marion School).

Volunteer to Help with the Event!

Please, consider donating your time to help with the event. We need able-bodied people to help set up the huge canopy the Thursday before the event. We need people who can help supervise games, and direct parking. We need people to help tear down and clean up after the event. Demand for this annual event is high, but to continue it into the future we need more help from our community.
